About us

Johnsons of Whixley is a three-generation family business located in North Yorkshire, equidistant between York and Harrogate, with 100 years’ experience in growing and supplying millions of trees, shrubs and plants to UK-wide planting schemes each year.

This is an exciting opportunity to literally keep our Nursery running as you’ll be maintaining our agricultural vehicles. Our fleet consists of mainly Massey Ferguson tractors, Terex 3 ton dumpers and a small amount of other plant.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Planning in and carrying out services, repairs and maintenance
  • Making computerised records
  • Looking after the workshop, and ensuring it’s kept tidy

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of working as an agricultural engineer/ mechanic
  • Experience of maintaining and repairing agricultural vehicles and if you have knowledge of vintage tractors, that’s an advantage
  • Great communication skills so you can liaise with your colleagues
  • A practical and logical approach to your tasks
  • Basic computer skills would be an advantage but we will give you full training if needed
